Group ordering, made simple

We know coordinating a weekend group brunch in PJ can quickly turn into a chaotic math problem.

Finding the right balance of sweet and savoury plates often leaves someone feeling shortchanged.

Our Bubbs & Bites Cafe team has watched this dynamic play out every weekend since opening our Muji-themed sanctuary in the Dataran Sunway area back in late 2022. The math is actually much easier than it looks when planning brunch for 2, 4, or 6 people at Bubbs.

We serve generously portioned waffles, so you do not need one per person. The only exception is the Smoked Duck & Eggs, because it functions as a complete meal. This straightforward guide will break down the exact portion sizes and outline the smartest ways to share.

Ordering ratios

Our 7-inch Belgian-style waffles slice perfectly into quarters for easy sharing. The savory waffle, our Smoked Duck & Eggs, is always one-per-person because it is a full meal.

Sweet waffles split beautifully, and most groups share one sweet option between two people.

Group SizeWafflesDrinksSuggested Mix
2 people221 savory + 1 sweet
4 people341 savory + 2 sweet (share)
6 people562 savory + 3 sweet (share)

We strongly recommend sharing these sweeter plates to avoid a mid-afternoon sugar crash. Many first-time visitors make the mistake of ordering a whole dessert waffle for themselves. If you’re not sure which side of the menu each person prefers, our savory vs sweet waffle guide lays out the typical decision points.

Group brunch spread

Sample 4-person order

A budget-conscious brunch comfortably sits at around RM 30 per head. We see this specific combination hit the perfect balance of flavours and value for a table of four.

Here is the breakdown for a highly satisfying spread:

  • 2 x Smoked Duck & Eggs (RM 24 x 2), the meal-shaped order for 2 hungry people.
  • 1 x Bananutella (RM 18), shared across the other 2.
  • 1 x Classic Honey & Butter (RM 13), shared by the whole table.
  • 4 x drinks (2 x Hazelnut Latte RM 13 + 2 x Americano RM 9 = RM 44).

Subtotal: RM 117 | Per head: RM 29.25

This combination ensures everyone gets a substantial savoury bite alongside a sweet finish.

Sample 6-person order

Larger groups need a slightly different strategy to keep the table dynamics smooth.

  • 2 x Smoked Duck & Eggs (RM 24 x 2), for the biggest eaters.
  • 2 x Bananutella (RM 18 x 2), halved across 4 people.
  • 1 x Reese PB & Hershey (RM 20), the rich share-bite.
  • 6 x drinks (mix of Americano, Flat White, Hazelnut Latte, averaging RM 11 each).

Subtotal: RM 150 | Per head: RM 25

Our Reese PB & Hershey option packs a dense, peanut-buttery punch. Treat it like a decadent dessert to split among the whole group.

Savory vs sweet mix

A balanced order usually consists of 2 savory options and 3 sweet options for a group of six. We track these numbers closely to keep the kitchen prepped for the weekend rush.

A 2025 regional food trend report highlights that younger diners lean heavily toward sweet items, but local habits still demand savoury options. Here is the rough split observed daily if you are deciding for the group:

  • 3 out of 10 eaters want savory at brunch (Smoked Duck).
  • 6 out of 10 eaters want sweet (Bananutella most popular, then Classic, then Reese).
  • 1 out of 10 eaters will skip the waffle and order toast or pasta.

This perfectly matches the suggested mix in the table above for a standard six-person group.

We find this ratio leaves everyone satisfied without wasting food. The flexible eater usually ends up stealing a bite of someone else’s waffle anyway.

Drinks for groups

A reliable drink strategy for a group is to order an equal split of bitter, milky, and specialty coffees. Our specialty coffee menu runs deep enough that most tables end up with a diverse mix.

Global Arabica coffee bean prices hit a historic high of roughly RM 45 per kilogram in early 2025. We have maintained accessible pricing despite these market shifts, ensuring a great cup remains within reach.

A reliable rule for every six drinks is to order the following:

  • 2 bitter: Americano or Long Black to cut through the rich waffle batter.
  • 2 milky: Flat White or Vanilla Latte for a smooth, comforting sip.
  • 2 specialty: Mocha Mint or Affogato as a treat.

Someone almost always asks for matcha, so you can easily add one Hand-Whisked Matcha Latte to that lineup. See the full coffee menu to explore all the tasting notes.

Seating for groups

Walk-ins work perfectly for groups of four, but parties of five or more should message us ahead of time. Finding a comfortable cafe for group waffles in Petaling Jaya can be tricky during peak hours.

We offer different seating arrangements depending on your group size and arrival time. The custom wood-slat tables provide plenty of space for laptops and plates alike.

Up to 4 people

You can comfortably walk in on any day and grab most window seats. A four-top table is almost always available on weekday mornings.

We provide a stable 100 Mbps Wi-Fi connection and accessible plug points. This setup makes the space highly dependable for remote workers needing a quiet workspace.

5 to 6 people

Weekends after 10 AM can get quite tight for medium-sized groups. Message our Instagram the morning of your visit to ask about the back corner’s availability.

7 or more people

We operate a small cafe layout to maintain a cosy atmosphere. Message us at least a day ahead for groups of seven or more.

The team may be able to push two tables together if given enough notice.

Pets in groups

Pet owners are always welcome at Bubbs & Bites. We gladly accommodate cats and dogs, even during group bookings.

Klang Valley pet-friendly cafe etiquette requires a few simple ground rules. Small-to-medium pets fit best into the lively energy of weekend peak hours, while large dogs work much better on a quieter weekday morning.

We kindly ask that pups stay off the customer chairs and wear diapers while indoors, as is standard practice locally. See our pet policy for full details on carriers and general manners.

Budget and timing

A typical budget for our cafe ranges between RM 25 and RM 45 per head, with a recommended visit time of 60 to 90 minutes. We keep things reasonable compared to other spots in the Klang Valley that easily exceed RM 60 per person.

This final total depends entirely on whether you lean heavily into the specialty drinks. Here is what you can expect regarding time and the best days to visit:

  • Time: Plan for 60 to 90 minutes for a relaxed, unhurried meal.
  • Peak Hours: Weekend mornings often stretch visits to 90 or 120 minutes as the kitchen handles maximum capacity.
  • Best day for groups: Thursday lunchtime, between 12 PM and 2 PM, is the absolute sweet spot.

The space is much emptier than the weekend rush but livelier than a sleepy Tuesday morning.

We see many solo diners and remote workers take advantage of this quiet Thursday window to enjoy fast Wi-Fi and hot coffee. Finding a spot to focus is much easier when the weekend crowds disappear.
